Raul Moncada Marino was born in the city of Camaguey, in Southern Cuba, in 1955. He studied at the Escuela de Artes Plasticas Jose Joaquin Tejada in Santiago de Cuba, and later at the Instituto Pedagogico Enrique Jose Varona in the city of Havana. He has had numerous personal exhibitions in his native Cuba, where he has also participated in several collective exhibitions.
In 1996, he won first prize for painting at the Taller de Creacion, at the Casa Cultura Marianao in Havana. In 1995, he won first prize for engraving at the Encuentro de Artistas, at the Casa Cultura Marianao in Havana.
