UTA SODTKE
Uta Sodtke was born and educated in Germany and has lived in Toronto, Canada, since 1967. In her artistic beginnings she was gradually encouraged and influenced by her artist father. She was attracted by various media used in the creative process but has found watercolour to be the most challenging and rewarding media for her. Paintings of vibrant colours and the lush scenery of the rolling hills and forest vegetation are a direct result of her frequent travels to Jamaica over the last thirty years. Her love of Montego Bay's surroundings has inspired her to spend most of her available time in Jamaica, where she paints scenes readily recognizable for most people who have ever visited there. Uta's work is internationally collected, in Europe, the Caribbean, and North America.
