Sisson Blanchard was born in 1929, in the southern village of Trouin, Haiti. As a young man, he moved to Port-au-Prince, where he worked as a gardener at the Centre d’Art. He began painting in 1948. His paintings of birds and farming scenes were first shown at the Centre d’Art, and have since been exhibited all over the world. Blanchard’s paintings can be found in the permanent collection of the Davenport Museum of Art and the Waterloo Museum of Art, in Iowa. Sisson Blanchard died in 1981.
