GERARD FORTUNE

Born in the 1920's in Petionville, Fortune did not start painting until relatively late in life (ca. the 1980's).  A voodoo priest, Fortune's work is highly valued by serious collectors.  He was given prominent mention in Seldon Rodman's book "Where Art is Joy - Haitian Art".  He is, like so many Haitian artists, entirely self-taught.
